Biography:

Gold Wolverine is an alternate reality version of James Howlett, better known as Wolverine, from the Marvel Comics multiverse. He originates from a reality devastated by a zombie plague, specifically from the Marvel Zombies universe.

In his original reality, Wolverine was infected during the zombie outbreak. However, unlike most zombies driven solely by hunger, Gold Wolverine retained a degree of his intellect and personality. This allowed him to grapple with the horrifying nature of his existence and the carnage he inflicted.

His most distinguishing characteristic, beyond being undead, is his metallic skeleton and claws which are bathed in literal gold. He gained these metal bones and claws after a deal with the demonic entity Zarathos to save a world. This deal also gave him the ghost rider's penance stare which he used on himself to feel every last bit of guilt for all of the destruction he has done.

Gold Wolverine is often depicted as a tragic figure, burdened by the knowledge of his actions and grappling with the monstrous being he has become. He has appeared in various Marvel Zombies storylines, showcasing both the horrific threat and the lingering humanity within this undead version of the iconic X-Men hero.
